Day 4: Day of Gratitude Challenge

First, I want to share an awesome site:

My name is Jim and I like to make pancakes for my Daughter, Allison. She seems to like them, but, being 3 I don’t think she really cares too much.

My dad used to make me really fun shaped pancakes like “The Moon,” “Lightbulb,” “Balloon,” and “Just eat the damn thing before it gets cold” so I guess I can credit his genius.

Hope you enjoy the pancakes. Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know how I’m doing.

My experiment

Jackie Paulson 2011 March

Yes, this is me, Jackie Paulson

What you do not know is that I have cystic acne. I am now experimenting. I have mixed water and AMOXICILLIN on my face. The doctor has me taking Internally 875mg a day or more. Well, If I can beat the bacteria on the inside, I need to beat it on the outside. So, Guess what It is Working. I have struggled for six years with this awful dis-ease.

Slowly over the years, after I cannot cover up my acne, I slowly withdrew from the outside world. It is horrible that the outside world does judge by appearance. I do not have any real friends where I live. I have more online friends. This is perhaps why I love to blog and meet new friends. Why not? can still feel connected to people this way. My spouse had been a supportive man who does all the shopping. I will not go out in public unless basically I am FORCED. Yes I do work, but where I work, I don’t have to worry about how I look in Security. Go ahead piss me off, see what happens!

I decided to openly come public with this. I believe I am misdiagnosed. Now I need the Vampire Face lift because of all the scars. My own fault is that I use an exact-o Knife and dig to get out the acne, why? Its soos painful. It feels better when I dig it all out.

Here is a recent photo too: see my camera doesn’t put the right date on it, I need a new one. Donations of a new camera with date would be nice.

Day 3: 30 Dy Gratitude Challenge

Letting Go

Day 3: Gratitude Challenge

Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure. By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try; the world is beyond the winning. Courage is the power to let go of the familiar. Creativity can be described as letting go of certainties. Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward. Hanging onto resentment is letting someone you despise live rent-free in your head. Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of the past, and is therefore the means for correcting our misperceptions. Why do you cling to pain? There is nothing you can do about the wrongs of yesterday. It is not yours to judge. Why hold on to the very thing which keeps you from hope and love? Loving someone is setting them free, letting them go. People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar. Some think it’s holding on that makes one strong; sometimes it’s letting go. Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it’s all over. Stand up and walk out of your history. The harder you fight to hold on to specific assumptions, the more likely there’s gold in letting go of them. Think about any attachments that are depleting your emotional reserves. Consider letting them go. True Love doesn’t have a happy ending, because true love never ends. Letting go is one way of saying I love you. Truly loving another means letting go of all expectations. It means full acceptance, even celebration of another’s personhood. There are things that we never want to let go of, people we never want to leave behind. But keep in mind that letting go isn’t the end of the world, it’s the beginning of a new life. We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the life that is waiting for us. When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. You have been warned against letting the golden hours slip by. Yes, but some of them are golden only because we let them slip by. You never leave someone behind, you take a part of them with you and leave a part of yourself behind. When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us. We can never turn back the pages of time, though we may wish to relive a happy moment, or say goodbye just one last time, we never can, because the sands of time continue to fall, and we can’t turn the hourglass over. Some of us think holding on makes us strong, but sometimes it is letting go. One problem with gazing too frequently into the past is that we may turn around to find the future has run out on us. All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. Change is never easy, you fight to hold on, and you fight to let go. There’s no need to miss someone from your past. There’s a reason they didn’t make it to your present future. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Every exit is an entry somewhere. We need in love to practice only this: letting each other go. For holding on comes easily~we do not need to learn it. Every breath is an opportunity to receive and let go. I receive love and I let go of pain. Sometimes you have to let go to see if there was anything worth holding on to. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened. When you let go of what you are, you become what you might be. When you let go of what you have, you receive what you need. Have you ever struggled to find work or love, only to find them after you have given up? This is the paradox of letting go. Let go, in order to achieve. Letting go is God‘s law.

Question: “Why does God allow natural disasters, i.e. earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis?”

Answer: Why does God allow earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, mudslides, and other natural disasters? Tragedies such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the 2008 cyclone in Myanmar, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and the 2011 earthquake/tsunami near Japan cause many people to question God’s goodness. It is distressing that natural disasters are often termed “acts of God” while no “credit” is given to God for years, decades, or even centuries of peaceful weather. God created the whole universe and the laws of nature (Genesis 1:1). Most natural disasters are a result of these laws at work. Hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are the results of divergent weather patterns colliding. Earthquakes are the result of the earth’s plate structure shifting. A tsunami is caused by an underwater earthquake.

The Bible proclaims that Jesus Christ holds all of nature together (Colossians 1:16-17). Could God prevent natural disasters? Absolutely! Does God sometimes influence the weather? Yes, as we see in Deuteronomy 11:17 and James 5:17. Numbers 16:30-34 shows us that God sometimes causes natural disasters as a judgment against sin. The book of Revelation describes many events which could definitely be described as natural disasters (Revelation chapters 6, 8, and 16). Is every natural disaster a punishment from God? Absolutely not.

In much the same way that God allows evil people to commit evil acts, God allows the earth to reflect the consequences sin has had on creation. Romans 8:19-21 tells us, “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” The fall of humanity into sin had effects on everything, including the world we inhabit. Everything in creation is subject to “frustration” and “decay.” Sin is the ultimate cause of natural disasters just as it is the cause of death, disease, and suffering.

We can understand why natural disasters occur. What we do not understand is why God allows them to occur. Why did God allow the tsunami to kill over 225,000 people in Asia? Why did God allow Hurricane Katrina to destroy the homes of thousands of people? For one thing, such events shake our confidence in this life and force us to think about eternity. Churches are usually filled after disasters as people realize how tenuous their lives really are and how life can be taken away in an instant. What we do know is this: God is good! Many amazing miracles occurred during the course of natural disasters that prevented even greater loss of life. Natural disasters cause millions of people to reevaluate their priorities in life. Hundreds of millions of dollars in aid is sent to help the people who are suffering. Christian ministries have the opportunity to help, minister, counsel, pray, and lead people to saving faith in Christ! God can, and does, bring great good out of terrible tragedies (Romans 8:28).

We do not walk alone through sorrow

God is always by our side.

This is true of every day even tomorrow.

I pray you gather the courage from the

Strength only He can provide.

Think of your passing loved one as a flower

Whose roots laid its foundation for all to see

And left behind a message of great power

Just think of them when you find a tall tree

And be encouraged by God’s great creed.

All life must come to an end

But God will never bend.

When our deepest sorrow comes to us

And someone we love is gone

May we be blessed with Strength and courage

To always carry on.

Five ? Friday

Concord Law School

Image via Wikipedia

1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is? Yes, dark brown to black with two grey hairs LOL.

2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants? I usually just fly by the seat of my pants. It is rare that I have enough free time in my work/life schedules, as well as money, to be able to schedule a vacation.

3. What is your favorite meal to cook? Italian, I would say anything Italian

4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank you’s? I try not to, but to be honest, it does kinda bother me. I try to pick out gifts that really mean something to the person. I put in a lot of thought, and so it is nice to have that acknowledged in some way.

5. How did you meet your best friend? I could write a book on my best friend in the entire world. One is my boyfriend of 6 years but I want to tell you about my girl friend. Her name is Ronda. She and I met online through Kaplan University as we both enrolled to take Paralegal Degree. Both of us had young kids and worked full time, so attending an actual college was not going to happen. I would have to say it was the best thing I ever did. She and I met in classes we had together and she is from Alabama and I am from Chicago. Though I have never met her in person, I feel like we are sisters with different mothers! She makes handmade quilts and is very gifted. Anyhow, I graduated she did not, she had to drop out because she fell and broke her wrist. It was such a tragedy. She fell on her baby’s toy believe it or not, and I was actually on the phone with her when it happened. She had to call her husband who is a Police officer to come home immediately and take her to the emergency room. I will never forget that day, nor will she. I wish she would blog with me but she is too busy. She is my day and my night. Without her in my life, I really don’t want to go there!

How would you answer these questions? Post your answers in your own blog (or in the comments section below) and then link back here and to Mama M’s blog, the originator of Five Question Friday.

Day 2: 30 Day Gratitude Challenge

 • I look at the world through grateful eyes and consistently express my gratitude to God and others.

Today is Day 2: I would like to look “through grateful eyes and express my gratitude to God” for today God has given me another day.

My favorite saying is, “if I am not listed in the newspaper in the Obituaries,” it’s a great day.

The other one is, “If I am not six feet under the ground I am a happy camper.” I use to be a barber so these are two common things talked about when my clients are 80 years old and up. To get them to laugh, it worked.

When they leave I always say, Keep Looking Up. They knew that it meant from the Blessings of God above.

I am grateful for my sister, JoAnn who came by with my requested Coke a Cola and what I wanted. I get paid on Friday but couldn’t wait. I love to stay up at night and write, so I needed Coke to keep my mind stimulated. I thank God for her and help. I don’t like to ask for help. Yes, I could have waited until 9:00am but it’s more fun this way. My sister understands this and that makes me happy. We also got to visit and talk about our lives.

If you do read this then pray for our Dad Roy, as he is ill and doesn’t want to go to the doctor. He is 74 years young and wants to give up on life. I pray this is a passing phase. Amen.

What are you grateful for today?

To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. When God takes something from you, He is not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

Day 1: 30 Day Gratitude Challenge

Thanks god, my dearest and all dear friends! ;...

Gratitude is learning to recognize and express appreciation for the benefits we have received from God and from others.”

This means constantly being on the lookout for blessings,

making each day a treasure hunt. It means being intentional about thanking

God and others for the blessings that come our way.

Overall, how would you rate being Grateful?

 1. I look at the world through grateful eyes and consistently express my gratitude to God and others.
 2. I know Ive been greatly blessed, but I don’t often stop to actually express my gratitude to God and others.
 3. To be honest, I had not thought a lot about gratitude; I’ve got a long way to go to develop a lifestyle of gratitude.
 4. I’m a complainer; I tend to focus on my problems and I frequently express them to others.

Feel free to comment below.

Topic #66 Slang Words or Phrases

This is a topic I like as I have a teenager and try to understand her and her “lingo.”

Slang Words

Jorden, my daughter and I will be having a conversation and she will use slang all the time. One example is she is on the phone with her girlfriend and she will say, Julie is such a WANKSTA. When she gets off the phone I go, What is a WANKSTA? She tells me that her friends call Julie that because she tries to act tough and she is really an emotional roller coaster. Then I looked it up on the internet to find out that it was developed by a “rap song.” So, if teens are using rap song slang in real life, then maybe parents need to be up on the latest rap music our kids listen to. My daughter makes fun of the type of music I listen to for example, I love The Carpenters and the Bee Gee’s. I can guarantee you that their no slang in those songs.

The song where WANKSTA came from:

Intro: 50 Cent]
It’s 50 a.k.a Ferrari Fuck-50
Break it down
I got a lot of living to do before I die
And I ain’t got time to waste
Let’s make it

[50 Cent]
You said you a gangster but you never pop nuttin’
We said you a wanksta and you need to stop frontin’
You ain’t a friend of mine, (yeah)
You ain’t no kin of mine, (nah)
What makes you think that I wont run up on you with the nine
We do this all the time, right now we on the grind
So hurry up and copy and go selling nicks and dicks
Shorty she so fine, I gotta make her mine
A arss like that gotta be one of a kind
I crush ‘em everytime, punch ‘em with every line
I’m fucking with they mind
I make ‘em press rewind
They know they can’t shine if I’m around the rhyme
Been on parole since 94 cause I commit the crime
I send you my line, I did it three to nine
If D’s ran up in my crib, you know who dropping dimes

[Chorus 2X: 50 Cent]
You said you a gangsta
But you never pop nothing
We said you a wanksta
And you need to stop frontin’
You go to the dealership
But you never cop nuttin’
You been hustling a long time
And you ain’t got nothing

[Verse 2]
Damn Homie, in high school you was the man, homie
What the fuck happened to you?
I got the sickest vendetta when it come to the chedda
And if you play with my paper, you gotta meet my berretta
Now shorty think I’m a sweat her, sipping on amaretto
I’m living once than deada, I know I can do better
She look good but I know she after my chedda
She tryna get in my pockets, homie and I ain’t gonna let her
Be easy, stop the bullshit, you get your whole crew wet
We in the club doin’ the same ol’ two step
Guerrilla unit cause they say we bugged out
Cause we don’t go nowhere without toast we thugged out

[Chorus 2X]

[Verse 3]
Me I’m no mobsta, me I’m no gangsta
Me I’m no hitman, me I’m just me, me
Me I’m no wanksta, me I’m no acta
But it’s me you see on your TV
Cause I hustle baby, this rap shit is so easy
I’m gettin’ what you get for a brick to talk greasy
By any means, partner, I got to eat on these streets
If you play me close, for sure I’m gonna pop my heat
Niggas saying they going murd’ 50, how?
We riding ’round with guns the size of Lil Bow Wow
What you know about AK’s and AR 15‘s?
Equipped with night vision, shell catchers and F-bangs, huh

[Chorus 2X]

Here is a link to a cool slang quiz:

http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/family/teens/test-teen-slang-quiz

Policelingo

Since I am a Security Guard I have to learn many of the police codes, lingo, and or jargion and they are considered

“slang.”
