I would like to hear where you were, (exactly) when the World Trade Center was attacked?

How did you find out?

How did you feel?

I was at my AM Bank making a deposit, the the World Trade Center was attacked. I thought they were joking, so I

went to work and turned on the Television. I remember being in shock and then when the 2nd plane hit, I was beyond shocked.

I was working in a barber shop and all the men clients came for a haircut and talked about the news, which barbers have a television on when they work. When my day was over I had some friends come to my apartment to watch the news, gather and talk about it. I was in an anxiety stage and needed comfort, I did not want to be alone.

Recently, I left a job doing “Security” and I had to walk down tons of flights of stairs (stairwells) and I had a flashback of all those who helped others during that day of 911. I actually got sorta freaked out, because I felt the reality and struggle of the firemen going up the stairs as others tried to get out.

I remember that someone helped a man in a wheel chair down and lived. I cannot imagine the way he must have felt that day. It brings tears to me even now.

I only write this because of the Honor and Respect I have for Everyone in the USA that day. Bless you all!

In my classroom and saw the second hit live. The kids thought it was just another disaster movie and I tried to explain. Then the assistant principal walked in and demanded I turn off the TV because I was supposed to be teaching. Can you imagine?

I was at home. I had not been able to work, because I was suffering from a neurological illness. I was in my bedroom on the bed, when my younger brother telephoned me. He told me which channel to turn to, and what had happened, and what was still going on at that time! I was incredulous! Many thoughts ran through my mind!

I don’t think it would have been difficult, for many people, perhaps several million, to remember exactly where they were, and what they were doing on that fateful day! Pray for our country, and the leaders of our country! May God bless you all!

It was a horrific event on a horrific day and the memory is forever etched in my brain… seared into my memory bank. I went home from work, my family and I turned everything off but the new reports and we sat quietly and prayed and mourned the loss of thousands of people. It was a sad day on earth and the memory still haunts me.
Jackie, perhaps you asked people to gather to comfort each other and commiserate over this sad event at your home, and at some point you fed them? This was not the type of event to have any kind of party over… I hope you understand my concern with the word “party.” Thank you.

Thanks for sharing your story. Your experience was worse than mine. I have to say that I did not know one person involved in it. It still affected me. I pray that our Nation never goes through such tragedy again.

I was leaving work, I was teaching French to kindergarteners at the time, my friend took me into the teacher’s lounge and on CNN I saw the second tower in flames and I thought that they were watching a new action movie until my friend asked me where my husband was. He was in NYC that day. I drove home, the longest 20 minutes of my life. My parents were there as well as my sister and her husband. All were fine but it took my at least 6 hours before I could get through. It was a horrific day because we did lose one of our best friends in the second tower. We were devastated.

I was walking across the lobby of a nursing home I worked in..going to a meeting. When Ientered the meeting I told the management time what I had seen. We adjourned to the main TV and announced a prayer meeting. By that time we knew…and the world changed.

I was in my car, driving to work when word came over the radio about the first tower. By the time I arrived, the second tower had been hit. I went inside the hair salon I worked at and told everyone. We turned the radio up and listened to the news all day. That was the quietest, most solemn day our small salon ever experienced.

Darcia I hear ya! Hey do you still cut hair now? I loved your book! I quit security because of leg swelling problems. I just might have a new offer in cutting hair. Thanks for sharing your story Darcia.

I was in my grade 9 English class. They made an announcement over the P.A. and I just remember being so shocked. My last class was Religion and my teacher put the news on the T.V. for us to watch and it really upset me. I went home and sat in my basement bawling my eyes out. I was terrified. 10 years ago and yet I still remember that day like it happened yesterday.

I was watching it live on TV. I live relatively close to NYC, and we ended up with a coating of ash on our home. I wondered how much of that ash was human…. Many, many of those who died in the Towers lived in my area. We had many memorial services and funerals to attend. My daughter was in high school at the time - all classes came to a halt, televisions were turned on, and all the kids waited in dread silence with tears streaming down their faces for their phones to ring to find out if their parents survived. It was absolutely chilling. Every time the principal called for a student, they knew it was the worst. It was like a death toll. Never have I ever witnessed teenagers so solemn, so caring, so compassionate. It was a dreadful time for us all; I pray we never have to live through anything like that again.

@phrogmom- that had to be hard, to be teaching and be strong and courageous on that one day! I admire you for that.

I was asleep. (In Australia). My alarm went off and on the radio they were talking about it. I assumed it was a joke. I walked up the stairs to my Uncles kitchen and saw it on the TV, just as the second plane hit. At first they thought it was a replay of the first, then realised it was the second.

I was just dumb founded. I could not believe what I was seeing.
