Recession Rage
Hello and Welcome to today’s Rant on Recession.
If you turn on the TV news and watch the ugly events like today’s Phoenix Dust Storm or what have you; it becomes overwhelming.
The media covers all sorts of events which include war, famine, terrorism, gov’t, and natural disasters. Not to mention the global economy and the pocketing of million s of taxpayer dollars by US executives. I do watch the news once in a great while but I have learned that most of the depressing news is not useful to me personally or a productivee thing to do with my time. Wouldn’t you agree?
I decided to Turn around my day by turning off the TV. Instead I-
I tell myself that all things go in cycles whether its the weather, season, conflicts or what not. I say, “This too shall pass.”
Yesterday I came up with my Gratitude list here. You should too!
Focus on the positive. Make a list of the things in your life, big and small, that bring you joy and fufillment. Schedule into every day at least one thing that nurtures you, even if it’s just allowing yoruself to sit and read for a few minutes.
Think Kind thoughts. Buddhist nun and author Thubten Chodron says we can always make a difference through what she calls the ripple effect. “Send out good wishes, even to those you perceive as your enemy, and you’ll be making the world a better place.”

It’s good to limit the news. I know that the stories are sensationalized, and the Phoenix dust storm is evidence of that. Neither one was really that big of a deal. It’s summer, it’s hot, there’s dust and monsoons…just like every year. Now, the microburst in 1996…that was bad
I’m glad you keep it positive!
Exactly the reason I avoid the news as much as possible!
Well said… I wish the media would balance all that negativity with stories of the good things going on in the world…
I love sending out good thoughts!!
We eventually just got rid of our tv. Took up too much space and time.
I wanted to post today’s video of the second storm in Phoenix but I was not able to.
