Security Officiers

Security Guards

Hello everyone…it’s been a hectic two weeks as I started a new job doing Security. My job is very demanding so my writing will not be as frequent. I do plan to finish this years challenge for writing a post a day or post a week 2011.

Today was my first day in full Security Guard uniform and being a “Safety Officer” on the floor…I do love my job but the learning is a bigger challenge.

I have to memorize the TEN codes which the Police Officers use, and the police are attached to our office. I also have other fun things to learn and being new I feel overwhelmed. I think anything new does bring a little tension and I found my day to be fun, fast and a challenge.

I will say that the challenge and the learning is fun for me at that same time a new challenge I wish to explore.

I am grateful to have a job in this current economic times. I will stand my ground with the Lord on my right shoulder and hold a new respect to all fellow officers and Police in uniform.

With that I will let you all go do what you wish to do and I am grateful to my current audience for the friendships and comments.

Thank you Ronda and Tracie for getting me through the times when I wanted to “GIVE UP.”

Demi Moore with Ashton Kutcher 2011

Demi Moore with Ashton Kutcher

On Sept. 23, Moore shared a quote from Greek philosopher Epictetus, writing,

“When we are offended at any man’s fault, turn to yourself & study your own failings.

Then you will forget your anger.”

It seems that the couple is spending a lot of time apart. So I want to know if you think they will stay married or not?

YES or NO? Answer in Comments, Please.

Award to get more Followers

I have been given an award! I wish to thank my friend Chris King.

The idea of this award is to hand out five and get more followers…Below is my five to follow.

Chris, I Said

That is what I call myself in my more private conversations and if I am in the mood for self scolding it is Christine Elaine. This however was just a serious conversation so I took it easy on me.

On Sunday past I was honored by a message from someone dear, Sana Johnson-Quijada MD who writes from friendtoyourself.com.

Sana was passing on The LiebsterBlog Award. The rules of the Liebster Blog award are that if you receive the award, not only do you have less than 200 followers, but is designed because someone believes that you should have more. That, and, you should link back to the blogger that nominated you (yours truly) and nominate five more blogs. Let the nominees know of course that you nominated them.

This comes at a particularly nice time for me as I have been counting my blessings of late more than usual and my blogging friends are part of those blessings. Sana’s posts have a 360 degree perspective as she is able to write from a personal and professional POV. Her sensitivity to the mind and heart keep me reading every post.

It isn’t possible to know how many followers each person has unless it is posted on the home site. Some I follow are hugely successful in followers but since the idea is to tell someone how much you appreciate them and that you (I) believe they should have more – here goes and it is difficult to stay at five since there are more that make my day but:

For your viewing pleasure:

Helpful Tab Clean up by Blogging with Amy

Google Chrome

Image by Iban Nieto via Flickr

Today I am sharing with you the most awesome thing I have learned.

Ya know when you are online and reading things and then your tabs in Google Chrome are across the top?

Well, you can install a handy tool and that link above- tells you HOW TO DO IT.

I just installed it and I am so glad I did. It’s like my mind gets cluttered with all of the tabs.

Now, I can go back and read them later, the sites that I wish to still read or want to go back to.

It’s the BEST TOOL out there! Trust me!

Books: Boarders and Books A Million News

CNN

Image via Wikipedia

Beyond Borders

On Sunday, the last Borders and Waldenbooks stores closed their doors forever. Many eulogies and obituaries have been written about the company. Our own analysiswas published in February, when Borders declared bankruptcy-and the writing was already on the wall. CNN also had a more recent, thoughtful tribute.

Now many booksellers are stepping in to fill some of the gaps left by the collapse of the company that once had 1,400 locations across the country. Many indies are reaching out to former Borders customers in a variety of ways (see Powell’s Books‘ particularly direct invitation below!), with special offers, with deals for Borders Rewards members, with reminders that there are other stores eager for their business.

Some booksellers are literally moving into Borders and Walden spaces. For example, Ferguson Books & Media, Grand Forks, N.D., just opened a second store in a former Walden location at the Columbia Mall. Likewise, Rivendell Books, Montpelier, Vt., has opened a second store, in space that used to house a Walden, in the Berlin Mall. And Bookworks, Whitefish, Mont., will open a branch next month in Kalispell, where a Borders just closed.

Today Books-A-Million takes over the leases of 14 Borders stores after having made an offer in bankruptcy court that wasn’t refused. The chain has also taken over nearly as many other old Borders and Walden sites by dealing directly with landlords.

Many booklovers will miss Borders, but they shouldn’t forget that there are plenty of other bookstores with thousands of booksellers who know their stuff and eager to talk about and recommend books. And even for those of you who read most books digitally, so long as you don’t have a Kindle, you can buy e-books from most bricks-and-mortar bookstores both instore and online

Reno Crash

Have you been to an Air Show?

I have in Wisconsin and in Chicago.

Something goes terribly wrong.

The World War II-era plane that plummeted into an air-race crowd like a missile bore little resemblance to its original self. It was rebuilt for speed, if not for stability.

The 65-year-old “Galloping Ghost” underwent years of massive overhauls that took a full 10 feet off its wingspan. The ailerons — the back edges of the main wings used to control balance — were cut from about 60 inches to 32.

Pilot Jimmy Leeward had said the changes made the P-51 Mustang faster and more maneuverable, but in the months before Friday’s crash even he wasn’t certain exactly how it would perform.

“I know it’ll do the speed,” he said in a podcast uploaded to YouTube in June. “The systems aren’t proven yet. We think they’re going to be OK.”

Investigators don’t yet know what caused the plane to pitch sharply into the crowd at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, killing nine people, including Leeward, and injuring dozens. They have focused on the “elevator trim tab” — a piece of the tail that helps the aircraft maintain lift and appeared to break off before the crash.

Blue Angels Air Show:

Isn’t it crazy that I have went to air shows and never had a crash happen, although I have went to an Indy 500 In 1992 and loved the crashes…or even at a local event. Now in these events no one was hurt or died.

I want to honor those who have dedicated their lives in Air Shows and Died. It is my deep sorrow that you have passed on but that you left your mark in this world. I send my condolences to all they left behind and know they died in honor.
